3 Alternative Medicine High Blood Pressure Relief Options

According to information provided by the American Heart Association around 1 in 3 of all Americans are today suffering from high blood pressure. Of this figure approximately 1/3 of these people do not actually know that they are suffering from this particular disease. However, for those that are there has been a move by more people to search for an alternative medicine high blood pressure relief options, rather than relying solely on prescribed medications.

This move to alternative medicine seems to be part of a wider movement for people to understand and take more control over their own health. Allowing people a better chance of preventing illness.

However, it is important to remember that many alternative options have not been through the same thorough testing that pharmaceutical drugs have to go through by law, and so some of the claims have be looked at closely.

Also, it is never wise to start taking an alternative medicine without first consulting your doctor to ensure that there will be no interactions with other medication you may be taking, and that the alternative is appropriate for you.

There has been research carried out on a number of alternative natural products that have shown promise in relieving high blood pressure, including garlic and ginseng, but this article will look at some other alternatives:

1. Fish Oil

There have been a number of studies carried out that point to the benefit of fish oils reducing high blood pressure. Research carried out in Western Australia found that a weight-loss diet combined with daily fish consumption is highly effective at lowering blood pressure, triglyceride and increasing good cholesterol.

Also, a study carried out at Harvard found that supplementation with fish oils each day will reduce blood pressure in hypertensive individuals. The most improvements where identified in individuals with atherosclerosis or raised cholesterol levels.

The fish oil effect on hypertension seems to be related to the dose used, and whether a person has hypertension or raised cholesterol.

2. Folic Acid

Folate is found in the Vitamin B group and is vital for our bodies to form red blood cells. This particular acid may be beneficial in helping people to lower high blood pressure.

According to a researchers at a conference on high blood pressure in the US, young women who consumed more than 800 mgs of folate per day reduce their chance of suffering with high blood pressure by nearly a third, when compared to women who took less than 200 ug/day.

3. Hawthorn

Traditional herbal practitioners regularly use this particular type of alternative for high blood pressure treatment.

A randomized controlled trial was carried out in the UK on people suffering from Type 2 Diabetes. During the trial some of the people were given 1200mg of hawthorn extract each day whilst the others only received a sugar pill (placebo) instead for 16 weeks. At the end of the 16-week trial it was found that high blood pressure levels were reduced in those who were taking the hawthorn extract.

It is important that you should discuss any alternative treatment you are considering taking with your doctor.

High Blood Pressure - Natural Solutions

High Blood Pressure - Natural Solutions

Some of the Causes of High Blood Pressure

Before analyzing some of the effective solutions for high blood pressure, we must first look at some of the possible causes of this problem. According to modern medicine some of the basic causes of high blood pressure are:

1. MALFUNCTIONING OF THE KIDNEYS may in various ways disturb the proper balance of water in the body. The kidneys determine the electrolyte balance in the liquids of the body, and thus will affect how much water will be retained in the body and how much will be expelled from the body. If the kidneys have heredity weaknesses, or are tired, or imbalanced because of life factors, then too much liquid may accumulate in the body increasing the blood pressure. One factor may be inefficient salt excretion. On the other hand, the kidneys may simply be very tired and overworked because of a heavily toxic diet with large overdoses of SODIUM. A direct relationship between the intake of high sodium foods and high blood pressure has been established.

It seems also that the kidney is responsible for producing various chemical substances, which in a certain way control the blood pressure and the tension of the walls of the arteries and veins in the circulatory system. Well-functioning kidneys are essential for control of proper blood pressure.

2. MALFUNCTIONING OF THE ADRENAL GLANDS may also be the root cause of disturbances in the blood pressure. Disturbances in the pituitary gland and hypothalamus can affect the functioning of the adrenals in a negative way, creating high or low blood pressure. In general, any malfunctioning of the endocrine system may result in blood pressure problems. It is also likely that this disharmony in the endocrine system may in turn be the result of emotional or mental stress, or unhealthy living habits.

3. THE NERVOUS SYSTEM may give messages of contraction to the arteries and veins causing the pressure to rise as the volume of the circulatory system is decreased. The reasons why the nervous system may do this may be different in each person, but in most cases they are psychosomatic.

4. OUR DIET affects our blood pressure. It is logical to believe that the substances of which the blood is constituted will affect the amount of liquid held in the blood and the tension of the walls of the blood vessels. This is especially true in cases where toxic waste products tend to accumulate on the walls of the blood vessels, destroying their flexibility and narrowing the opening and thus the volume of the vessels. The pressure in these vessels increases.

5. OUR ENVIRONMENT creates various stress conditions, which may force our bodies to react with a rise in blood pressure. The pressures we feel at work, at home, in the society are transferred through the endocrine and nervous system into a tension and pressure within our body.

6. OUR WAY OF REACTING TO LIFE will play perhaps the most important part of all. An individual who feels secure, relaxed and self-confident in the face of responsibilities and stressful situations will obviously be able to maintain a normal healthy condition, independent of the external pressures. It has been shown in thousands of cases of people who had high blood pressure that when they learned how to relax they were able to keep the problem under control often without the use of medical drugs.

7. There are OTHER CAUSES, which we have not mentioned here.

SOME NATURAL SOLUTIONS

Now let us examine some possible measures we can take in order to overcome the problem of high blood pressure. Those with serious health problems would do well to consult their doctors before employing any of the following.

1. Purification of the Blood Stream. If the problem of high blood pressure seems to be accentuated by a toxic condition in the body and the blood stream, then we can improve the situation by cleaning up the inner part of the body. This inner cleansing can be made in the following way:

a. Avoid salt, animal proteins, animal fats, cheese, butter and all canned vegetables or any substances which have sodium salts added as preservatives or for taste.

b. Avoid all stimulants such as black tea, coffee, cigarettes, alcohol, salt, mustard, black and white pepper, ginger, nutmeg and other spices.

c. Eat plenty of high potassium foods such as fruits, vegetables, grains and beans. Especially green leafy vegetables.

d. Occasional juice and vegetable broth fasts under the guidance of a doctor will help to change the blood chemistry; detoxify the kidneys, blood vessels and other organs and restore a natural healthy condition in the body.

e. The use of garlic and onions can tend to open up and clean the arteries. One may take them in fresh form or in capsules. Some naturopathic doctors also suggest lecithin and vitamin C for helping to restore healthy blood vessels.

f. Eating only watermelon for one week during the summer when it is in season can help purify and rejuvenate the kidneys.

2. The Restoration of the Proper Functioning of the Kidneys and Adrenal Glands.

We may stimulate the kidneys and adrenal glands into more harmonious functioning in some of the following ways:

a. Various physical exercises which tonify these organs. These can be learned from a well-trained Yoga teacher.

b. Through Reflexology Massage on the points corresponding to the kidneys and adrenal glands on the soles of the feet we can effectively rejuvenate and harmonize these glands.

3. Regular Relaxation of the Nervous System Through Various Techniques.

We can relax and strengthen the nervous system so that it is more resistant to stress and effort in our daily life in the following ways:

a. Deep relaxation techniques in which we can learn to consciously relax the muscles and nerves and thus the walls of the blood vessels. While in this deeply relaxed state, we can imagine light and healing energy flowing into the heart, adrenals, kidneys and head area.

b. Exercises and breathing techniques can be used on a regular basis to release muscular and emotional tension from the body and mind.

c. Certain phonetic vibrations such as OOOO and MMMM have a calming and balancing effect on the body and mind.

d. Regular meditation has proven to be extremely effective in overcoming high blood pressure.
Details about the above-mentioned techniques can be learned from competent yoga teachers.

4. Change of Attitude Towards Life

Our attitudes towards life; our attachments, aversions, fears and ways of reacting to life can create a great deal of unnecessary tension in our lives. When the cause of high blood pressure is psychosomatic, it is obviously necessary to analyze and overcome these emotional factors which are contributing to the problem. Otherwise a total control of the situation will be impossible even if we perfectly employ the other physically oriented methods.

We can begin to analyze the factors in our lives, which are causing us to react with stress or worry and gradually become freer from these ways of reacting. We would do well to approach life in a more relaxed way, with self-confidence and peace of mind. We can gradually work towards this state of mind through working with various systems of self-analysis and self-transformation, which are available today.

Reasons For High Blood Pressure - Get The Truth

Reasons For High Blood Pressure - Get The Truth

Hypertension is not uncommon amongst Americans and it is the preliminary to the leading cause of death in the United States, heart failure. For this reason alone, it is important to identify the reasons for high blood pressure. Many people live with the condition for years unaware of the risk and that they may have developed the disease already. Bottom line, treating hypertension is extremely critical. Improper treatment equals life-threatening results.

There are several reasons that hypertension attacks some 50 million Americans every day. As only one- third of them actually take control of it, the people must understand the risks for developing the condition and change the way they live. One reason that Americans suffer from high blood pressure is that it is hereditary.

Most evidence suggests that 30 to 60 percent of all cases of high blood pressure are related to family inheritance. If family members, such as parents, siblings or grandparents suffer with the disease, then your chances of developing it is high. Ironically, having a brother or sister with coronary artery disease increases the risk more so than a parent with high blood pressure.

Inheritance of hypertension is basically built on genetics. Furthermore, medical experts suggest that families often share the same lifestyles habits; eating, exercise and body weight, therefore increasing high blood pressure heirloom intensity.

Another factor that is significant in regards to high blood pressure is the racial element. In most countries, the racial factor plays a major role in the risk for developing hypertension. Within the United States, statistics reveal that the Caucasians’ risk for developing high blood pressure is about 25 percent.

The Native Americans risk for hypertension is slightly higher and the Hispanic population is slightly lower. However, the African- American population risk is significantly higher. At an amazing 36percent, African- Americans not only develop the condition, they generally develop it at an early age.

Due to the unhealthy lifestyle that many African-Americans’ sustain, their blood pressure is often more severe and progresses rapidly. Research indicates that high blood pressure accounts for 20percent of all premature deaths amongst African- Americans. This is twice the number of Caucasians that are affected.

Mental tension is also a significant contributor to high blood pressure. Mental tension can involve stress, worries, fear, work pressure or simply a competitive life. Also referred to as ‘Type A’ personality, the tension stimulates the secretion of undesirable juices within the body. In return, the arteriolar resistance is increased, which immediately causes high blood pressure.

Coincidently, medical experts have stated that mental tension is related to the high percentage of African- Americans with high blood pressure. African- Americans’ are victims of environmental and socioeconomic stressors which potentially causes that population to have the highest rating of hypertension in the world.

It is important to treat this condition aggressively. The reasons for high blood pressure should now be undeniably clear. It is not safe to ignore the risks and signs of the condition; it will not go away. Become active in regards to improving your lifestyle in order to decrease your chances of developing hypertension.

High Blood Pressure A Silent Killer

January 2, 2009

High Blood Pressure - A Silent Killer

High blood pressure, or hypertension, is often characterized as the silent killer-and for good reason. Although it affects an estimated one in five North Americans, many people don’t experience any symptoms. As a result, less than one-quarter of sufferers actually receive treatment. Left untreated, however, it can severely damage the cardiovascular system, leading to death from stroke, heart attack or kidney failure.

Most high blood pressure patients are candidates for medications, including ACE inhibitors, beta-blockers, calcium channel blockers and diuretics. However, statistics show that of the 20 to 30 million individuals diagnosed with high blood pressure, less than half stay on their medication for more than one year. Moreover, 60 per cent of those who lower their medication do so because of side-effects. Given this information, the use of nutritional and botanical supplements, along with the adoption of a healthier lifestyle, can be of immense benefit in fighting this hidden killer.

Lifestyle and Dietary Approaches

If you wish to either prevent or treat high blood pressure, changing how you eat, sleep, and respond to stress are very important considerations. In the eight-week DASH trial conducted by the Heart, Lung and Blood Institute in 1997, 70 percent of volunteers who eliminated meat and sugar, decreased unhealthy fat intake, and increased fruit and vegetable consumption decreased blood pressure to below 140/90 mm/Hg compared to just 45 percent of those who only ate more fruits and vegetables.

Individuals with high blood pressure should decrease sodium intake to approximately three grams per day and add at least four daily servings of foods rich in potassium (beans, spinach, melon, potatoes, tomatoes, bananas, avocados). Decreasing sodium intake alone has reduced blood pressure by 8.4 mm/Hg systolic and 4.4 mm/Hg diastolic. Moreover, alcohol intake should be reduced to less than two drinks per day. Research has shown that a shift from five to two drinks daily can decrease blood pressure by 8 mm/Hg systolic and 4.4 mm/Hg diastolic.

A structured exercise program is another important factor. In one study, an average weight reduction of 4.5 kg by individuals who were 10 to 65 per cent overweight led to a significant reduction in systolic blood pressure after just six months. In addition, stopping smoking is a must for anyone diagnosed with hypertension.

Stress Management and Sleep

Those with high blood pressure need to employ stress management and relaxation techniques. This concept was investigated by Dr. D. Shapiro and associates from the department of psychiatry and bio behavioural sciences at the University Of California Los Angeles School Of Medicine. Individuals with a mild to moderate increase in blood pressure were given blood pressure-lowering medications and then divided at random into two groups. One group performed simple stress management techniques, while the other did not. Remarkably, 55 percent of those who employed stress-reducing strategies were able to remain medication free, compared to only 30 percent in the control group, as found after a one-year follow-up examination.

A good night’s sleep is also important. Researchers from the University of Pavia in Italy found that high blood pressure patients deprived of sleep had significant increases in blood pressures and heart rates, especially during the evening.

CoQ10, Magnesium and Fish Oil

Several supplements have proven to be of great value in the fight against hypertension. One is coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10), or ubiquinone. One study of 18 patients with high blood pressure concluded that 100 milligrams of CoQ10 daily for 10 weeks lowered systolic and diastolic blood pressure by 10.6 and 7.7 mm/Hg respectively.

In addition to CoQ10, 480 mg of magnesium oxide daily for two months decreased blood pressure on average by 2.5 mm/Hg systolic and 1.4 mm/Hg diastolic over 24 hours in individuals with mild to moderate hypertension. (Those employing magnesium therapy are cautioned that this may lead to episodes of diarrhea.)

Fish oils rich in the omega-3 fatty acids EPA and DHA are also helpful adjuncts in the control of blood pressure. Individuals with mild increases in blood pressure were given either two grams of EPA and 1.4 g of DHA from fish oil (approximately 12 1,000-mg capsules of an 18 percent EPA/12 percent DHA mixture) or a placebo every day for four months. After only eight weeks, blood pressure was reduced by 6 mm/Hg systolic and 5 mm/Hg diastolic. Individuals wishing to try this high-dose fish oil approach should also increase vitamin E intake to 800 IU per day.

Garlic and Reishi Mushroom

For those with mild to moderate elevations in blood pressure, garlic and reishi mushroom may be of value. The use of standardized garlic (Allium sativum) supplements at a dose of up to 900 mg per day for 12 to 16 weeks decreases both systolic and diastolic blood pressure in individuals with moderate elevations in blood pressure. In fact, one study concluded that garlic supplements decreased standing diastolic pressure from 101 to 90 mm/Hg and systolic pressure from 171 to 150 mm/Hg after 12 weeks.

Unlike garlic, the use of reishi mushroom (Ganoderma lucidum or Ling zhi in Chinese) in the treatment of hypertension is not well recognized. However, the conclusions of a recent trial suggest that it may be another helpful, natural, blood pressure-lowering agent. Fifty-five individuals on anti-hypertensive medications with moderate increases in blood pressure were given either 55 mg of concentrated reishi mushroom extract or a placebo, three times a day for one month. Unlike the 14 individuals in the placebo group, those taking the concentrated mushroom extract had a significant reduction in blood pressure.

In conclusion, high blood pressure is a serious problem that affects one in four adults. It is important that individuals afflicted with this problem adopt a healthy lifestyle that includes quitting smoking, reducing stress, eating better, losing weight and increasing exercise. These changes, along with the judicious use of supplements and herbal therapies, can help combat this silent killer.

Alistrol Natural Supplement

Alistrol is a patented, proprietary blend of natural ingredients that have been used for centuries to help support healthy blood pressure. Use Alistrol everyday to help maintain healthy circulation and support cardio-vascular health. Time-tested for safety, the herbal extracts in Alistrol have no known side effects.

What is Blood Pressure?

Blood pressure is simply the pressure of blood against the walls of the main arteries. Two readings, systolic (when the heart is contracting) and diastolic (when the heart is relaxing), are measured by a device that records pressure changes in millimetres of mercury (mm/Hg). Various factors-age, stress, diet, exercise-will affect the readings. The following chart shows a continuum of blood pressure values including both healthy and unhealthy states.

Blood pressureSystolicDiastolic

High Blood Pressure Known As Hypertension Is Very Sneaky

December 30, 2008

High Blood Pressure Known As Hypertension Is Very Sneaky

It is often called the "silent killer" because it can damage your heart, kidney, and brain, even though you feel no symptoms. Blood pressure is the force exerted by circulating blood on the walls of blood vessels, and constitutes one of the principal vital signs. If your blood pressure is normal, you can work with your health care team to keep it that way. If your blood pressure is too high, you need treatment to prevent damage to your body’s organs. High blood pressure is dangerous because it makesthe heart work too hard and contributes to atherosclerosis (hardening of the arteries). Blood pressure is a measure of how hard the blood pushes against the walls of your arteries as it moves through your body.

Doctors do not know what causes high blood pressure in 90 to 95 percent of people who have it. In about 10 percent of patients, the disease can be traced to specific causes: heredity, kidney abnormalities, adrenal gland tumors, diabetes, chronic kidney disease, hormone abnormalities, use of birth control pills, pregnancy or a congenital narrowing of the aorta. Other possible causes of higher blood pressure are weight gain and decreased physical activity in winter. The nicotine in cigarettes and other tobacco products causes your blood vessels to constrict and your heart to beat faster, which temporarily raises your blood pressure. In some people, alcohol causes blood pressure to rise quite a lot.

High blood pressure is one of the most serious health problems in the United States; yet, because high blood pressure has no symptoms, millions of people do not even know they have it. High blood pressure often causes no symptoms, or immediate problems, but it is a major risk factor for developing a serious cardiovascular disease (conditions that can affect the circulation of blood around the body), such as a stroke, or heart disease. Sudden changes in blood pressure can cause interruptions in the blood supply to the heart, kidneys and brain, and will almost always be accompanied by distinctive symptoms. The presence of symptoms, such as headache or blurry vision, usually indicates severe or long-standing hypertension.

The key for any high blood pressure treatment is to bring the condition under proper control. Treatment depends on how high your blood pressure is, whether you have other health problems such as diabetes, and whether any organs have already been damaged. Treatment begins with changes you can make to your lifestyle to help lower your blood pressure and reduce your risk of heart disease (see the box below). You want to achieve your treatment goal, but sometimes it seems your blood pressure just doesn’t want to budge. You and your doctor can carefully review your treatment and lifestyle to see what’s going on. For hypertension that isn’t controlled by diet and exercise, new treatment guidelines for hypertension recommend that most patients be started on a thiazide-type diuretic, unless there is a compelling need for a different class of medications.

So high blood pressure is a condition that most people have at some point in their lives. You should always have an idea of what your blood pressure is, just as you know your height and weight. However, the biggest problem with treatment of high blood pressure is not a lack of knowledge, but a lack of the application of our current knowledge.

What Causes High Blood Pressure?

December 28, 2008

What Causes High Blood Pressure?

Hypertension is referred to as essential (primary) when the doctor is unable to identify a specific cause. It is by far the most common type of high blood pressure. The causes of this type are unknown but are likely to be a complex combination of genetic, environmental, and other factors.

High blood pressure is a ‘risk factor’ for developing a cardiovascular disease (such as a heart attack or stroke), and kidney damage, sometime in the future. If you have high blood pressure, over the years it may have a damaging effect to arteries and put a strain on your heart. In general, the higher your blood pressure, the greater the health risks. But, high blood pressure is just one of several possible risk factors for developing a cardiovascular disease.

If those temporary episodes occur frequently, they can cause just as much damage to your blood vessels, heart and kidneys as can chronic high blood pressure. In addition, when you have anxiety, you’re more likely to resort to other unhealthy habits, such as smoking, drinking or overeating which, in turn, can increase your risk of high blood pressure.

Even if high blood pressure does cause symptoms, the symptoms are usually mild and nonspecific (vague, or suggesting many different disorders).

Malignant hypertension may be associated with headache, light-headedness, or nausea.

Certain nerve impulses cause your arteries to dilate (become larger) or contract (become smaller). If these vessels are wide open, blood can flow through easily. If they’re narrow, it’s harder for the blood to flow through them, and the pressure inside them increases. Then high blood pressure may occur. When this happens, your heart becomes strained and blood vessels may become damaged. Changes in the vessels that supply blood to your kidneys and brain may cause these organs to be affected.

In 90-95 percent of cases, scientists don’t know what causes high blood pressure. This is essential hypertension. Fortunately, although scientists don’t fully understand the causes of this disease, they’ve developed both non-drug and drug treatments that treat it effectively. They’ve also identified some factors that contribute to higher blood pressure. These are arteriosclerosis (or hardening of the arteries), thickening or hypertrophy of the artery wall, and excess contraction of the arterioles (small arteries).

Essential hypertension affects approximately 75 million Americans, yet its basic causes or underlying defects are not always known. Nevertheless, certain associations have been recognized in people with essential hypertension. For example, essential hypertension develops only in groups or societies that have a fairly high intake of salt, exceeding 5.8 grams daily. In fact, salt intake may be a particularly important factor in relation to essential hypertension in several situations.

Hypertension is referred to as essential (primary) when the doctor is unable to identify a specific cause. It is by far the most common type of high blood pressure. The causes of this type are unknown but are likely to be a complex combination of genetic, environmental, and other factors.

The cause of high blood pressure often cannot be found in many teens with hypertension. When the cause is unknown, a person has what’s called essential or primary hypertension. In cases where the cause of high blood pressure is known (called secondary hypertension), it is usually the result of kidney problems, hormonal disorders, abnormalities of the aorta (the main artery that carries oxygenated blood to the body), or a narrowing of certain smaller arteries. Most teens that are diagnosed with hypertension have essential hypertension.

Hot Cocoa For Treating High Blood Pressure - A New Home Remedy To …

December 26, 2008

Hot Cocoa For Treating High Blood Pressure - A New Home Remedy To Lower Hypertension

More and more people are discovering a variety of household remedies that can be used to minimize the effects of high blood pressure or hypertension. When an individual is diagnosed with hypertension or even pre-hypertension, the physician is obligated to prescribe certain medications. However, they may also suggest that you make changes in your lifestyle to alleviate the risks of further complications. To date, studies have indicated that you can use hot cocoa for treating high blood pressure.

Americans have discovered that the daily intake of hot cocoa will decrease the risks of elevated blood pressure and cardiovascular failure. The thought was actually borrowed from the citizens of Central America, specifically the Kuna Indians living on the Coastal Islands of Panama. The Kuna Indians are free of high blood pressure and there are far less deaths amongst them which can be contributed to heart attacks, strokes or kidney disease.

Furthermore, by the time the Islanders reach the age of 60, the average blood pressure is an astounding 110/70. According to the Harvard Institute researchers, the hot cocoa has become a prominent home remedy for the Kuna Indians to lower blood pressure despite subsidiary unhealthy lifestyle factors such as obesity, smoking, and lack of physical activity or alcohol consumption.

Recent studies suggest that it has been since the 18th century that hot cocoa was considered a resource to combat cardiovascular conditions. The Kuna Indians drink about five cups of cocoa a day. This is especially significant in that the cocoa contains chemicals called flavan-3-ols; which not only lowers the blood pressure, it also improves the overall function of the cells lining the blood vessels. More so, it works to stimulate the body’s production of nitric oxide. The hot cocoa actually thins your blood allowing an increase of blood flow to your heart, brain and other pertinent organs.

Hot cocoa consumption has proven to eliminate subsequent illnesses and deaths associated with high blood pressure. Cocoa also contains procyanidins (FC) which is potentially effective for obtaining the measurement of levels and production of molecules associated with the body’s immune system and inflammation. Harvard researchers also suggest that hot cocoa can also be used to treat blocked arteries, congested heart failure, stroke, dementia and even impotence.

Many studies were conducted by researchers to corroborate the claim that hot cocoa for treating high blood pressure was authentic. As a result, many men and women were relieved of the symptoms and effects of the condition. Subsequently, these individuals lived longer lives. Even as Americans generally live unhealthy lifestyles, which increased the risks for high blood pressure, using hot cocoa as a natural home remedy has proven effective.

High Blood Pressure - More Of An Epidemic Than You Think?

December 24, 2008

High Blood Pressure - More Of An Epidemic Than You Think?

A staggering one in every four adults in the United Kingdom and certainly in the United States have been diagnosed as suffering from high blood pressure. The medical name for high blood pressure is Hypertension.

High blood pressure is serious. The chance of contracting and developing a number of life-threatening diseases and illnesses increases when you are diagnosed with High Blood Pressure. The list of diseases that are more likely to be contracted if you suffer from high blood pressure can include associate heart disease, kidney disease and possibly stroke. Having high blood pressure increases the severity of other diseases. If you don’t get it diagnosed correctly then not only will it curtail your overall quality of life, it might actually kill you The complete lack of any standard symptoms or signs makes high blood pressure deadly.

Do you or does anyone in your family have high blood pressure? Quite often high blood pressure doesn’t get diagnosed until people are suffering from a heart attack or a stroke or another major illness. Tragically hypertension will not just fade away or disappear. However on the positive side high blood pressure will respond to treatment. You can do something about hypertension.

The one thing that you have to be careful with high blood pressure is that because there are no classic signs or symptoms the only one way to be 100% sure that you suffer from it is to have you blood pressure taken. After you have had your blood pressure test make sure that you sit down and talk about it completely to your doctor or health care professional. It is essential that you monitor your blood pressure on a regular basis as you get older and you should be having your blood pressure checked at least once a year. It is quite straightforward and in the most cases people should observe this but there are certain steps that you can take to prevent yourself from being exposed to the likelihood of getting high blood pressure, certainly without good cause.

It would appear that less than one in five of all adults who have been diagnosed with hypertension actually have it under control. Knowing how your body works will give you the power to prolong your life expectancy and enhance the quality of your life. Your heart pumps blood to all of your bodies’ organs and tissues, including your brain. The heart achieves this by using a network called arteries and veins to get the blood pumped round the body. To get a rough idea as to how much blood is pumped into your arteries every minute, when you are at rest the heart beats approximately between 60 to 70 times a minute and every time it beats it pumps roughly 3 to 4 ounces of blood into the system. Blood Pressure is the force of the blood pushing against the walls of your arteries. Hypertension is a condition in which the pressure of the blood in the arteries exceeds the pressure that is normal and tolerable for your body.
